The Followers Collective Vienna – A First Attempt!

This is our new project which is very dear to us: Creating a space for exchange and growth, providing the frame by organising regular events to learn and talk. Let’s see how this works out! For now, we scheduled a test run of 3 monthly events.

 

What is the Purpose?

We want to address and work on topics specific to all followers who dance Swing dances such as Balboa and Laminu, SlowBal, but also Lindy Hop or Shag.

It is ABSOLUTELY NOT our purpose to build any frontiers or create a “We Against The Others”, meaning “us Followers” agains “you Leaders”.

What is our goal?

Empowering Followers by

– working on physical skills (balance, technique)
– working on rhythmic independence
– shaping the personal style and styling
– strengthening our mind and soul

Plus: building a supportive community of Followers.

Who is the audience?

Everyone who mainly dances the role of Follower (all genders, all abilities)

Also, everyone is invited who is interested in the topic, in dancing the role of follower and aims to support the purpose.

About the format

After-work-Sessions of 2 hourse on a Friday, once a month.
Every participant is invited to play an active role – leading the conversation, taking over a teaching session, asking questions.
The content of the sessions will be adapted to the topic and includes:

– room for open discussions
– teaching sessions
– group practice
– open or personal feedback

All participants can share their questions/topics in an open document at all times. The link will be available to all who sign up.

All sessions are intended to be a Safe Space.
Drinks and Snacks are provided.

How much does it cost to join the Collective?

All sessions are based on a free donation. 
This project is about a community, not a business model.
